You couldn't attend an important client meeting, so you told your manager you had a doctor's appointment, when in fact you overslept. The next day, your manager found out the truth after checking your calendar. You feel ashamed and apologise:
ASorry, I should have told you the truth. But then you would've been disappointed in me.
BIt's a shame my calendar gave me away. I'll be more careful about that from now on.
