Lake Chad is a freshwater lake in west-central Africa. It is bordered by Chad, Cameroon, Niger, and Nigeria. Lake Chad once covered an area of over 25,000 square kilometres in the 1960s. However, it has shrunk dramatically since then, as most of the water from its feeding rivers has been diverted for irrigation before reaching the lake. The lake also loses significant water through evaporation in the surrounding arid climate. Lake Chad has therefore lost the vast majority of its original surface area, and today it survives mainly as a shallow, fragmented remnant of its former size.
Neden?
Boşluktan sonraki cümle 'therefore' ile sonuca varır: göl, yüzeyinin büyük bölümünü yitirmiştir.
