Question

Despite the risks, the crew managed ---- the damaged vessel to the nearest port without further loss.

Accepted Answer

to tow — 'Manage' fiili başarıyla gerçekleştirilen bir eylemi anlatırken 'manage + to + V1' kalıbını alır. 'Towing' isim-fiil biçimidir ve bu fiille kullanılmaz. 'To be towed' edilgendir, oysa çeken taraf mürettebattır; gemi çekilen taraftır.
